Alien : In popular cultures, life forms--especially intelligent life forms, that are of extraterrestrial origin, i.e. not coming from the Earth--are referred to collectively as aliens, or sometimes visitors.
This usage is clearly anthropocentric: when humans in fictional accounts accomplish interstellar travel and land on a planet elsewhere in the universe, the local inhabitants of these other planets are usually still referred to as "alien", even though they are the native life form and the humans are the intruders.
The Disclosure Project is an organization started by Steven M. Greer in 1993, which alleges a US government coverup of information relating to unidentified flying objects (UFOs). The Project claims that UFOs are spacecraft piloted by intelligent extraterrestrial life, that the United States government has kept this secret, and that the government has also concealed advanced technologies obtained from the aliens the Project claims exists.
The Project's goal is for 'free and open' Congressional hearings of all data regarding UFOs, including the large amount of information they claim is being hidden, and for release of the technology they claim is being suppressed, particularly free energy sources. The group follows a conspiracy theory developed by Greer and others.
